JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE
HARLEM RIVER BLUES

RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 24TH, 2010

Justin Townes Earle is an anomaly. He’s tall as the day is long, all angles and elbows and a hard stare, both welcoming and deadly serious. He’s Nashville North, all set up in lower Manhattan now, just like his hero Woody Guthrie, with twang and charm intact.

That hard working earnestness has paid off, to say the least. Justin won the Best New and Emerging Artist at the 2009 Americana Music Awards. His record, Midnight at the Movies, was named one of the best records of last year by Amazon, received four stars in Rolling Stone and found a sweet spot in the blackened hearts of fans and critics alike including Australia where he has toured three times in less than eighteen months. GQ Magazine named him one of the 25 best dressed men in the world in 2010. He also appeared on HBO’s Treme with his dad, troubadour Steve Earle, on whose Grammy Award- winning Townes record Justin also guests.

The aforementioned Woody Guthrie once said, “Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make it simple.” On Harlem River Blues, Justin chose the simple route. The record’s not a wall of sound produced to the rafters. It’s rockin’ and reelin’ at times, sweet and slow at others—and it’s great. Like good fried chicken, a well-cut suit and a handmade guitar, there’s heaven to be found in the beautifully crafted simpler things.

Compared to the much-lauded Midnight at the Movies, Harlem River Blues is more mature and increasingly nuanced, while still embracing the raw voice and clean sound of previous standout tracks like “Mama’s Eyes.” Harlem River Blues kicks off hot with the title track’s choir of backing singers and electric guitar, slow dances through a decrepit tenement on “One More Night in Brooklyn,” and swings à la Jerry Lee Lewis on “Move Over Mama.” “Working for the MTA” is a modern day railway ballad, embracing the labor movement in classic folk singer style over some heartbreaking pedal steel from Calexico’s Paul Niehaus. With percussive guitar, killer standup bass lines by Bryn Davies and a guest appearance from Jason Isbell, this record hums along like a 6 train jumpin’ the tracks and heading straight for the Tennessee state line.

Harlem River Blues straddles not only the Mason- Dixon, but time itself. As versed in Mance Lipscomb as he is in M. Ward and sporting Marc Jacobs suspenders, Justin Townes Earle is a man beyond eras. With Harlem River Blues, a record that’s perfect for late Indian summer nights on either the front porch or fire escape, Justin’s found yet another way to be a timeless original.

“A gifted performer in his own right.” —NY Times

“Appalachian preachers who pray over the dead before the wake, the ones who absorb earthly misdeeds before the body can be mourned in public, are called sin eaters. Justin Townes Earle is a sin eater. He’s hovered over the bodies of Hank, Buck, and damn near his own. The difference between Earle and others who channel country music’s ghosts is that Earle knows exactly what to do with what he absorbed.” —No Depression

“Justin Townes Earle is living proof that despite the freak show that is modern day Nashville, there are still artists out there who revere the deep roots of the American musical tradition while still pushing the boundaries to create something new and wonderful.” - PopMatters.com

4 Stars —Rolling Stone

“92 ... phenomenal.” —Paste

“He’s fully absorbed his genetic and cultural heritage and draws upon both with great skill and dimension... an utterly distinctive voice that takes what’s come before and artfully moves it forward with the power of a certain steel-driving man.” —LA Times

“In his mid-20s, Justin Townes Earle probably isn’t old or wise enough to make this kind of heartsick, tender music, but that’s what happens when you dad is Steve Earle, and like him, you’ve had your own near-death experiences with addiction.” —LA Times

“Like all good country singers, Earle is a storyteller above all else, and Midnight at the Movies is deliciously specific.” —eMusic

RADIO SINGLES UPDATE:-
Thank you to all the DJS out there who played “Carol Lights”, the Australian Christmas track (NFS 136) from my & Pat’s ‘Long Journey home’ album. It is a great Christmas song and was extremely ‘country/folk’ in style so I truly didn’t expect it to get the airplay it did,.. But it did!,....  So much so that it was THE MOST PLAYED NFS Single in that time period!!!,.. Regardless of that, it still didn’t even get on the airplay chart,.. (so that just tells you how ‘accurate’ the Country Tracks Chart really is!! !),.. Anyway,.. That’s life!,.. I still want to thank you deeply for that support,.. It’s about airplay, not charts – they mean nothing really.

The next single will be a ‘forthcoming’ single from the new country album & we are looking at it being distributed in August – this week actually!!!,..  on NFS 143, please give it your support. I’m also going to be running a single a bit later on in the year - thru Door to Door which is a digital marketing program designed to get Digital music singles to radio along with a Digital publicity campaign to the media, please give that one support also (http://www.thevalleystudio.com.au/#marketing_door2door).

I‘ve also discovered a few of my DJ friends are no longer DJs but like to continue to receive my updates, if that’s the case you might want to let me know and I’ll change my records and will switch you to the `Supporters Newsletter’ list which is generally the same info only much more reader friendly!, with pics etc. If you want the new album when you hear the new singles, let me know ASAP.  As usual the cheap Media price for my albums is $10 (5 Euro, 50 Norwegian, Danish/Swedish Krona, $10 Canadian, 5 British Pounds, $10 NZ, 500 Yen or 10 $ US),.. but remember, I can do some freebies for those that can’t afford it,.. So don’t be shy to ask!

CAN YOU HELP?:- A repeat request,.. A friend of mine has a recording of a short sample of a song,.. he’s wanting to find out who the singer is, the voice sounds familiar to me but I just can’t place it,.. so anyone interested in helping, let me know and as I have it on MP3 now & I’ll send you a sample.

JIM HAYNES’ NEW BOOK:- Jim Haynes has completed his Country Music book which he started many years ago. THE ABC BOOK OF AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY MUSIC is a comprehensive list of many Australian country music artists who are active and successful in country music or have made an indelible impression on the Australian country music scene. Included in it are lists of major country music award winners and stars, and a guide to the major country music festivals around Australia. I seemed to have been missed in all the previous Australian Country Music books even though I’ve been in the scene for over 20 years!?,.. but it was really nice to know that Jim didn’t forget me, or my contribution,…Yeah!, Thanks Jim,.. and don’t forget, it might be a great gift for someone who likes country music!

DVD :– I’m starting to put together historical and other footage to make up a DVD of my musical life and career,… quite a difficult job actually – and one which might take a few years,.. made even harder still by the fact that when you are up on stage you are therefore not generally behind a camera at the time,.. So,… here’s asking,..  If anyone has any video footage picked up of any of my performances, solo, duo, band  or otherwise,..  I would appreciate getting a copy.

FACEBOOK:–   Yep, never thought I’d be ‘hip’ enough to be up on Facebook,.. but I am, so if you are a Facebook-er too, come and say hi! ,..  And ‘be my friend’, haven’t worked out how to get much photos and music etc on it yet,.. but I will.

MEDIA RELEASE 11 August2010

LA shines for Oz artist Keri McInerney

It’s a year since Hervey Bay singer songwriter Keri McInerney ventured east across the Pacific, arriving at LAX.  It’s a year since she brought home a gold medal and 4 silvers at her first ever international WCOPA World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood Los Angeles.

She said at the time, ‘I never stoptrying to promote, develop and learn more about my trade and this was such an incredible opportunity to really do just that.  It was fabulous to be selected, giving me more belief that my music and my performances are good enough to compete in the world arena.’

A year to establish more than she ever dreamed!

First came an invitation to talentscout for the Australian team, next came the industry contacts and networking helping to establish opportunities Keri never imagined.

By June she had signed recording agreements with international record label CSM Words and Music, flying out July11 for the US and the 10 day WCOPA Championships.

This time an even closer finale beckoned, and Keri did it all over again!  A gold, six silver and two bronze out shone the 2009 performances, landing a grand finalist spot in a close finish, narrowly edged out by Ireland the eventual winner, for the highly valued Overall Grand Prize at the July 26 event networked in a 4 hour spectacular live telecast online to a multi billion viewing audience.

Next came an unexpected coup, the chance to host a 2011 reality program for South Africa Television, a pilot fora broader concept and the US|South Africa world market.

Keenly monitoring events, local newspaper the Fraser Coast Chronicle reported the newsat the time as, ‘It's an international deal and is just a wonderful acquisition.

‘The program is being co-ordinated by South African Television in conjunction with a Hollywood production team. ‘

‘I am thrilled beyond belief.  Hollywood this year has been filled with opportunities for me.’

As a WCOPA talent scout here in Australia, Keri had selected four up and coming country artists, Kiara Rodrigues, Lance Coassin, Gary Fogarty and Steve Eales, and inspiring young singer|songwriter from Hervey Bay Kyle Downes, to represent in the national team.  All took home medals and a champion status in their category.

Tired, excited and highly motivated after twelve hour days and full rehearsals, Keri boarded her Virgin Flight homeward bound, only to chance meet with Virgin boss SirRichard Branson, not once but twice during the course of the flight to Ozshores.

Eagerly welcomed home to sunny Queensland, media services Channel Seven, ABC Wide Bay,Fraser Coast, Kix Country and others including 2NZ Keri’s hometown of Inverell all sought interviews in the last week, whilst on Saturday, Keri and protégé Kyle Downes were guests at Hervey Bay’s celebrations, riding high in a limousine service joining in the city parade to celebrate their iconic Whale Festival.

Keri said yesterday ‘I feel like the international parade had just begunfor Keri McInerney, as I move forward into the world market.  I do know too, we as Team Australia have done our country proud!’

Hi Everyone,

It’s been so busy – which is great! I have been performing everywhere and also opening for my mate Sara Storer on her recent tour, which has just been an amazing experience….

Super excited that my 1st single ‘Brave’ reached #1 on the radio Country Tracks Charts (whoo hoo) and stayed there for 4 weeks – WOW!! It also reached #15 on the CMC Top 30, as first singles go, I am over the moon. Thank YOU so much for coming to the shows, buying the albums, and requesting my songs – you have made my day.

I have now just released the 2nd single from ‘Driver’s Seat’ – it’s just hit radio, and soon to be on the Country Music Channel, it’s called ‘Metrosexual Craze’. It’s a tongue-in-cheek song poking a bit of fun at all these guys waxing their chests, arms and legs  etc (step away from the hot wax guys!!) and exfoliating – no wonder so many girls are signing up for ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ or ‘Tradey for a Lady’ – it’s an international metrosexual craze out there!

I have just finished filming the video clip for ‘Metrosexual Craze’, with Golden Guitar winning director (hello Hollywood) Duncan Toombs, and it was so much fun. Lots of men around with shirts off…eating chocolate mousse…teehee…it’s a hard day’s work, but someone’s gotta do it. You should check out the one I end up with (it’s all for my craft)….

Anyway keep an ear out for it on the radio and I will keep you posted when you can request it on CMC. Remember you can check out more on the; website, visit me on Face Book, MySpace or Twitter.
I would love to hear from you, so drop me a line & let me know where you would like to see me perform at a town near you.

Cheers,

Tracy xx
P.S Don’t forget my albums, ‘back there’ and ‘Driver’s Seat’, are now available on ITunes, my website and all good music retailers through WJO Distribution.

August 2, 2010... Update on last week's request for help

Hello Friends in Music ...

Just a quick note to let you know the outcome of last week's voting effort to help me win a showcase that will be presented by The AlternateRoot Online Magazine during the Americana Music Conference in Nashville this coming September.

It's now official... we came in fourth (out of 60) in week 2, with my song; 'SteamyDreams' from my forthcoming album, garnering 459 votes in 4 days.

This will take the track into the finals, voting for which beginson Monday August 16 and ends Monday August 23. The winner will be announced on Tuesday August 24th.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who voted for my song. Your support has been overwhelming (I often feel very isolated and alone, based here on the west coast of Australia) and so I am deeply honoured by it all.

Now that I know how the competition is organised, I will be better prepared to let you know when the polls open. I hope too, that you will still have enough enthusiasm to go vote for the track again!!I will keep you posted.

Thank you again everyone ... you are all my champions and I love you for that!!

Yours in music

Connie Kis xx

INTRODUCING "COUNTRY BOY" TO THE WORLD'S GREATEST DJ'S

I am proud to self release "Country Boy" to the world's greatest DJ's! I've included the Lyrics, Story Behind The Song.

COUNTRY BOY-Written by: Barry P. Foley-Copyright @ 21 March 2006

GEMA WERKNUMBER:  10945321 ANM 22 July 2009

I was born in the country during the great Korean War

Nearest blacktop road was a mile o rmore

Daddy worked two jobs, just to feed all of us kids

Looking back over 50 years, I’m proud that he did

Mama when to church on Sunday and Wednesday night

She never spared the rod, to teach us wrong from right

Sunday morning breakfast was chicken, biscuits and gravy

And those great gospel programs on a blackand white TV

I’m proud to be a country boy, proud of Southern Roots,

From the top of my balding head to the tip of my cowboy boots

I travel the world over telling folkswhere I come from

Singing “Here’s a little music from my Home Sweet Home”

I’d search for old pop bottles, inditches along the road

I get two cents apiece from the country store for every load

I’d wash cars and pump gas; clean your windshield just right

Make me a little money, for the dance on Saturday night

I’m proud to be a country boy, born inthe South,

When I talk about country, I know what I’m talking about

You might laugh at my accent and the way I say Y’all

When you say, Country Boy, I’ll stand up proud and tall

TAG

When you say, Country Boy, I’ll stand up proud and tall

This song was recorded with the same great studio and musician's in Garland Texas that the wonderfully talented Paul and Helen Mateki { http://www.paulmateki.com/ } have used for many years.  There's also another hot new name coming out of Texas on Paul's Quicktrain Label "Leon Blue" (http://www.leonblue.com/) that uses the same studio.  Real soulful singer that you may have already heard his fine release of Whiskey and Gin!  If you haven't heard it, drop him a line at leon@leonblue.com and sure Leon will hook you up!

I want to say a great big Texas sized "Thank You" for all of the support and spins of my previous five singles as my duet with Marty Wolfe in April (That Girl Who Sang Johnny Cash) has made a good run and this week its #2 in Sweden, # 3 in Germany and # 8 in Norway.   If for some reason you don't have a copy, please let me know.

Please forgive for not getting to the boards on a regular basis as adapting to the life of being a full time musician has occupied much more of my time that I ever imagined.   Guess that's a good thing!!  I have a series of 2 day shows that have turned into my "song-writing appointments" with myself.   So far 14 shows have produced 14 songs which one will be on the new CD!!

Needless to say.....thanks in advance for EACH and EVERY spin.  I take nothing for granted.   Thanks for much for your continued support of my music and all you do for all of us INDIE artists to play our music on your show.   Without YOU, we would have NO VOICE on radio period!!

Have Guitar....Will Travel..we'd love to hear from ya!   BarryP

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

Country Boy: (March2006).  Another true story of my childhood!  Grew up in the simple life of a country boy and I’m damn proud of it. I tell the joke that we were so wealthy, we had two TV’s...they were on top of each other, one for sound and the other for the picture….I’m sure there’s some families out there that can relate to that.  But looking back, it was rich childhood raised on solid principals of honesty and hard work.  I can clearly remember watching those great Sunday morning Gospel music programs on TV and waking up to the smell of Mama’s Fried Chicken and Sopping (Milk or White) Gravy…YES, that was Sunday morning breakfast!!

THINGS TO KNOWFor the benefit of some that didn’t grow up in the country, when you bought soft drinks you had to pay a 2-cent deposit on each bottle.  Lots of people would just throw the bottle out the window of the car in the ditches after they wereempty.  We’d search the ditches along theroad between the house and country store looking for “pop bottles” and turn them in for that 2 cent return of deposit…which was a very common way to make a little money!

A celebration for
Frankie 'T' Thatcher

(Reprinted with kind permission of Country Capital News)

A recent gathering of country music artists celebrated the contribution of
popular radio personality FRANKIE “T” THATCHER.

A great day was had by all who were able to attend a big “thank you” for
a man who has been instrumental in the lives of so many country music
artists here in Australia.

Most people know Frankie “T” as the loveable presenter of country music
on Campbelltown's 2MCR, the very first community radio station in Australia.

However most don’t know is that Frankie “T” has been a great supporter
for charities like the Fred Hollows Foundation, and is an ambassador for
research into prostate cancer - a condition that threatens his own life and
the life of many men every day.

JANE KELLAWAY, singer/songwriter, presenter on todayscountry94one
and fellow presenter on 2MCR, along with her husband Fred, decided
to celebrate the life of this unique individual.

Jane was amazed by how many artists responded to the invitation with the words “it would be an honour and a privilege to be there- thanks for inviting me”.

It was an emotional event for Frankie as each artist sang some of their most memorable songs for a man who was instrumental in their careers.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was enjoying a song penned by CONNIE KIS ANDERSEN. Although Connie was unable to be present on the
day, she sent along the song that she wrote as a tribute to Frankie's life. The song will be featured on her new album.

Restless Wind - second album release for Lana Ross

Two singles distributed to radio NfS in Australia, Hillcrest internationally.
An extraordinary year followed for Lana Ross when she released her debut album ‘Stories To Tell’ in Tamworth in January 2008.

Her second album ‘Restless Wind’ released last month promises a similar scenario for the Australian singer songwriter, based in Mackay Queensland.

Two singles were immediately released to radio.  ‘Little Western Gully’ on NfS in Australia, and ‘The Walls’ to the international market through Canadian distributor Hillcrest Marketing Service.

A product of renown producer Lindsay Butler, who also produced Lana’s first album, LBS management says ‘Lana obviously felt the pressure to say the least!, but if this is the end result of being under pressure, then it’s a great outcome.  The Industry is very excited at what will come in future albums from this talented singer songwriter.’

Lana says ‘Lindsay and I felt the pressure to deliver a great second album after the success of the first album.  It was Lindsay's cool head and meticulous production that has made this a fantastic album.’

Seven of the songs are written by Lana herself.  Other tracks include a Shirley Thoms classic and selected songs from songwriters Ben Jacobs and Manfred Vigars who have contributed a track each, both co written with Shaza Leigh.  The Lana Ross | Shaza Leigh track “The Walls’ is the first selection for the international market.

‘I’m excited about the co-write with Shaz ’The Walls’ - the results of this song, is magical!  It was a first choice when we discussed releasing a track overseas.’

‘The Walls’ is a very special song to write having recently lost a grandparent leaving behind his widow of 50 + years and to see her waiting as if behind, is a very heartfelt emotion.’

‘Hillcrest feedback already indicates the song is receiving strong airplay among the favourites of most of the DJs on the media boards.  But it’s still a bit early to tell.’ Lana added.

Of the remaining songs, she says ‘Cat Yella’ is a tongue in cheek song about how we girls sometimes will do anything to get attention from our men.  ‘Chorus of the Bushland’ was written while I was working 100 miles west of Nebo basically in the middle of nowhere, just a beautiful songwriting experience.  ‘Little Western Gully was written on a road trip, observing the changes in the landscape from one area to another ...a roll of the dice!’

‘The Murray River Song’ written on the Banks of the Murray where I went a lot when I was a child and returned there recently after 20 plus years and noticed how fragile she had become.  ‘Calling you Home’ was written as a tribute to the Australian bushland - the closest thing to heaven to me.  And, the title track ‘Restless Wind’ – simply a reflection on my life so far.’

‘I love what I’m doing.  I have no regrets.’ Lana concludes. ‘The first album taught me not to be afraid! To be myself! I have learnt many industry lessons over the past two years and I’m sure I will learn a few more....over the coming years’.

NfS Lana Ross Little Western Gully from the Restless Wind album.

LANA ROSS is an emerging singer-songwriter who is going from strength to strength.  The release of her second album Restless Wind follows the success of her debut Stories To Tell that earned her the 2009 TSA Gospel Song Of The Year and Gold Medallion for best Queensland New Talent of the Year in 2009, and also provided the strong radio single Heavens Park.

Her last single The Murray River Song was well received since its release in September 2009, and with a Top 3 nomination for Queensland Female Vocal in the Gold Medallion Awards for 2010 certainly created a lot of excitement in the Ross camp.

The new single to be released from the album is Little Western Gully, a gentle reflection on nature rolling the dice in the Australian bush.

FELICITY URQUHART GOES BACK TO HER ROOTS

Girl In The Mall hits the charts & new clip

The biographical song Girl In The Mall from Felicity Urquhart, continues to rise up the radio charts (Country Tracks Top 30 www.countrymusicradio.com.au  / Top 50 Hot Country www.hotcountry.com.au)
:

and the new clip has just hit our screens.

The single was a finalist earlier this year for APRA Song Of The Year, at the Golden Guitar awards, co-written with Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors).

Felicity’s own musical career began with her busking at the age of 11 on the main street of her hometown Tamworth, and so it was the obvious location to go back to her roots to film the clip, during the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival. Filmed by new Central Coast based director Erica Davis, the video features a number of Felicity’s musical friends including Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys, The McClymonts and Victoria Baillie.

You will also notice a few other well-known faces such as Channel Seven’s Better Homes And Gardens presenter Jason Hodges who is a good friend of Felicity’s and travels to the festival each year, or maybe pick out a friend amongst the fans and buskers who were all happy to be apart of the clip.

Having returned from a European tour, Felicity is performing alongside guitarist Glen Hannah for upcoming shows in Victoria late May, with a guest appearance by Sal Kimber at Spensers Live. Then Felicity will head back to Sydney for shows at Rooty Hill RSL and a guest spot at the Macarthur Country Music Awards.

If you can’t make any of the shows, then tune into Felicity every Saturday night on ABC Radio’s Saturday Night Country from 10pm till 2am, or catch a glimpse and request the new clip on CMC at http://www.countrymusicchannel.com.au/cmc/Requests.aspx

You can also view the clip on You tube athttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieQ83pvLJjg

Countdown for Tamworth songwriter Wendy Wood

Excitement for Tamworth songwriter Wendy Wood is at an all time high!

It’s not everyday one of Those Gals, jets off to Nashville.  But who can deny that it’s Wendy time to shine.

And that’s just what’s happening for the dedicated mum of two, who lists her best moments as spending with family.  No small feat as many friends and family have grown to understand.  A tough call when dealing with the severity and complications of illness, plus the demands and support needed when one of your children is diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as Wendy’s daughter Cassy was not long after her birth.  It mean tendless trips by car, never-ending kilometres and long hours Wendy would travel weekly, for over five years between Tamworth and Brisbane, when Cassy was hospitalised for long periods of times.  Wendy took it in her stride, something a mother does in the care of her child, coping better by making positive time to create lyrics in her head, or run with a word or a phrase and turn into a song.

And yet another reason, Wendy Wood is heading to Nashville.  In under two weeks, she will step foot on Nashville ground to attend the songwriters’festival, and escape into the world of American country music with a 4 day CMA pass.  On Friday, she’s in Brisbane onMay 21, for quality time with her now adult children before departing June 1, when she and the songwriter group of 15 she’s part of, will fly direct to LAX, for 2days and nights in the west coast capital with guided private bus tours around Venice beaches, and time out on the infamous Santa Monica Pier, before heading east to Nashville to attend the Songwriters Festival; and visit renowned songwriter live-playing venues, The Bluebird; Commodore; Douglas Corner, and join tours of the Ryan Auditorium and the Hall of Fame.

That’s the schedule, or was prior to the devastating floods earlier this month.  The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has sustained minor damage, it appears the Opry has extensive and more serious damage to its infrastructure.  For the latest information on flood-relief, and alternative venues during the peak US country music events of the year, the Australian Country Music Bulletin has up to date news on their website. |  www.countrymusicbulletin.com.au

‘Going to Nashville is something that I only ever thought that I would dream about.  I feel so sorry for everyone that has been affected by the floods and storms over there.’ Wendy laments.

‘Just being in the same place some of my favourite songwriters have been, to see what they have seen. I just can't believe that it is true!  I'm particularly excited about going to the Bluebird Cafe and sitting there listening to writers singing their own versions of their original songs.’

‘There’s nothing like hearing a songwriter sing the original version of their song.  It might have been recorded by someone else but hearing it the way that it was originally written is something very special.’

The group will attend co-writing sessions with Nashville writers, tour ASCAP and BMI, and meet with established writers, offering opportunities for advice, feedback and insight in the music business.

It’s a trip of a lifetime for the writer who, whenever there’s a chance, is a keen supporter of Tamworth’s own songwriter nights.

Wendy returns to Australia on June 16, home in Tamworth July 7.

MEDIA RELEASE  6thMay 2010

The INAUGURAL LAMEROO COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

an OUTSTANDING SUCCESS !

On the 1stof May the sleepy little South Australian town of Lameroo came alive to the sound of country music, poetry and the cracking of stock whips.

Lameroo is apicturesque rural community about two hours East of Adelaide on the Murray Valley Highway. In February 2009 Roz Giles of Big River Entertainment strolled through the Lameroo Memorial Hall with local identities John and Kath Ramke. Roz was immediately impressed with the Hall and suggested that it would be perfect for an indoor country music festival.

Fifteen months later and what once was an idea is now a reality. Nearly five hundred enthusiastic country music fans came from near and far to enjoy ten hours of non-stopentertainment at the stately Lameroo Memorial Hall and no-one was disappointed.Everyone was thoroughly entertained by an impressive selection of  some of Australia’s finest entertainers.Craig Giles, Graeme Hugo, Rick Bartlett, David Croser, Helen Croser, Allan Carroll, Luke Fritsch, Texettes, Kristal Collins, Heartland and Wildcard all gave first class performances.

The Main Hall had anelectric atmosphere from the first crack of the opening whip cracking display, through all the different styles of country music and on to the final two and a half hours of a Tribute to the good ole days of Rock’n’Roll. The large dance floor was packed right up until the Grand Finale at 9pm.

The Supper Room had amore sedate style of country for folks who wanted to relax with a cuppa and something to eat.

The FarewellBreakfast the following morning in the Supper Room was also very well attended.Everyone enjoyed a hearty breakfast and some fabulous  impromptu performances by Craig Giles, RickBartlett, Allan Carroll and David and Helen Croser.

One of the main aims of the festival was to make people more aware of Lameroo and the surrounding district and this was certainly achieved.

Owing to the outstanding success of the festival, organisers have agreed unanimously to doit all again next year. The dates for 2011 are April 30th  and May 1st.

Anyone wanting further information on the Lameroo Festival can contact Roz at Big River Entertainment.

Leanne Melmoth

‘Homeward bound with one hand at the wheel’

All of your world | Leanne Melmoth

Upcoming NfS Single & current  #47 Top 50 CMC clip

Album information

Perfect Day is a collection of original material, 10 songs in total, all written by Leanne.

the album recorded at Grove Studio's in Gosford, produced and arranged by David Holmes. Session musicians

David Holmes – Guitar; Jeff Camilleri – Bass; Andy Sorrenson - Keyboard, backing vocals and sound engineer

Music video produced & directed by Ross Wood 171Entertainment

When Canberra artist Leanne Melmoth launched her debut album Perfect Day, Deborah Minter’s album review for Capital News simply read ‘Leanne Melmoth, where have you been?!? ‘

What followed was two successful singles and in 2010 a possible third, if news last week charting in CMC Top 50 means anything, and soon to radio, available on NfS 139 from March 22.

With a run of low key successes, radio airplay and two very video friendly clips, the title track Perfect Day and Underneath the Radar, Melmoth established herself in the industry playing support at ACT gigs to major acts, and creating a market forher new album, described as ‘an irrepressible grin flashing in the rear view mirror from a woman with a passion for music.’

‘Perfect Day’s smooth fusion of country and adult-contemporary lyrics layered with hope and humour and up-beat melodies, conjure the feeling of being homeward bound with one hand at the wheel and the other weaving through the wind.’

A perfect analogy for the latest offerings, another articulate Ross Wood production, humorously combining the catchy, upbeat tune with a strong message for men to be good to the women in their world.

It’s a story of anormal day in a couple’s life;  a woman waiting on her man to go on a picnic, but of course.......he's at the racing track!  Instead of sitting at home sulking she decides to join his world and takes the picnic to the track.  After watching lap after lap, she finally gets involved and in a fun twist, shows him how it's done!!

Filmed at the Marulen Driver Training Centre at Marulen, Leanne was excited and apprehensive at the same time about the location ‘I love my cars so this film clip was a blast to make!  A dream come true!  The race car in the clip was an original Bathurst racing car and the guys just loved bringing it out for the clip.’

‘Apparently it doesn't get driven very often any more! The neighbours around the driver training centre complain about the noise of the car so we were really limited with time and how long we could have it driving for!  It was an absolutely freezing day hence there’s a shot of me in a jacket and warm coffee!!!!’

‘I wrote this song in about 1 hour flat.  It was fun to write and flowed easily’ Leanne smiles ‘I love performing this song live, because all the girls sing along and the reaction from the guys is priceless!’

‘Its subtle tongue-in-cheekquestions what every girl needs to consider before getting serious about a guy. Will he rub your feet?  Will he take you shopping?  Will he love you without your makeup?  Will he look after the kids when you've ‘hada day’?  Will he fight for you?’

‘All of your world’ is our most requested song at live shows, I think that says something about how a lot of girls feel’‘Sometimes we need to be all of someone’s world.’

Chad Morgan’s New Single

‘The Ballad of Bill & Eva’

It was for years Chad Morgan (the lovable larrikin)had been trying to write a song dedicated to his grandparents and had came upwith ‘The Ballad of Bill & Eva’ which is a truly fitting tribute. On this special release Chad is join in harmony with his grand-daughter Catlin. The ballad is about Morgan’s Aboriginal heritage.

The Ballad of Bill & Eva is the truestory of couple who lived last century.

Chad explains:  “A lot of people couldn’t understand how a beautiful white woman came to be married to a half-cast Aboriginal man. What they didn’t know was that Bill Hopkin’s father was an Englishman, his mother was a full-blood from the Waka Waka tribe.  Eva Anderson’sfather was a Scotsman and her mother was a full-blood from the Kullilli tribe.Unlike Bill, Eva was white – they had one child, a daughter they named Ivy –who was my mother and Catlin’s grandmother”
The newly released single is available at all Chad Morgan venues, along with the following CD’s of ‘The Sheik of ScrubbyCreek’:

The living Legend 'Chad Morgan' has always been plan old Chad.  He cared little for the Tamworth Awards - I'm sure he must have thought that  there were too much crawling going on.   He has been performing for the past 57 years and his acheivements have never been recognised because of the polictics in the Australian Country Music Industry.

This year Country Music Awards Night (2010) celebrates 38 years.

Chad Morgan, best known as the Sheik of Scrubby Creek - had received his first ever Golden Guitar 'Lifetime Acheivement Award' and was welcomed with astanding ovation - the fans stood and cheered in honour of this remarkable entertainer. John Williamson present the Lengend with his Award.  Slim Dusty - the King of Australian Country Music - would have been proud to see his old mate presented with his very first Golden Guitar.

Congratulations Chad.
