The Davidson Brothers won the 2012 Australian Country Music Award for 'Instrumental of the Year' on Saturday 28th of January at a ceremony held during the Tamworth Country Music Festival in NSW, Australia.

Known as the 'Golden Guitar' awards, this is the highest accolade presented in Australian Country Music.

This is the third time they have won this section (2009, 2010 & 2012) which evens their tally with Keith Urban in this category.

A panel of industry judges choose the top five finalists from which the CMAA (Country Music Association of Australia) professional members then vote on the top 5 tracks to determine the winner.

The track which won is an instrumental titled 'OMFG' taken from the Davidson Brothers 2011 album release 'HERE TO STAY'.

2012 AUSTRALIAN YOUTH BLUEGRASS SCHOLARSHIP

CALLING ALL BLUEGRASS MUSICIANS 25 & UNDER!

We are about to call for submissions into for the first ever Australian Youth Bluegrass Scholarship. It wasn't long ago that we were the youngest Bluegrass act on the scene in Australia, that soon changed with arrival of the Sommers Family, the Greaney Brothers and now every year we we see more young people than ever playing bluegrass and acoustic music exceptionally well. In seeking a way to give back as well as support the growth of Bluegrass Music in Australia we have decieded to set up this award. Applications will be open to any Australian citizen or resident aged 25 or under who is devoted to the style and specialises in Fiddle, Mandolin, 5-string Banjo, Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Dobro or Vocals.

With support from some of our alliances we can say that the prize will include a substantial CASH PRIZE + RECORDING PACKAGE + TROPHY to the winner who will be announced early January 2012.

Entry forms will be available on our website in the before the end of this month. So stay tuned www.davidsonbrothersband.com

ON THE ROAD...

NASHVILLE - NETHERLANDS - GERMANY - MELBOURNE

The boys have not slowed down at all this year...

Tamworth was a load of fun with two international guests; Jerry Salley from the USA and Swedish Banjo player Jens Koch (from the band G2). We recorded the new album on a 6 day trip to the USA in April followed by our first tour of Europe in June with the Band. What a thrill that was, we had fans that didn't speak much english sing along to our songs they'd heard on youtube!

In Amersfoort, Netherlands with Joshua Verco & Peter Cooper

We performed for the US Embassy in Melbourne for 4th of July then flew to Perth to play on the Sunny Cowgirls soon to be released Live Concert DVD. Next we travelled back to our current base of Bendigo and homtown, Yinnar to launch the album. August saw our band take the stage in Melbourne to our best selling show yet in the city at East Brunswick Club!

Super-Jam finale with Squeebz & Brody Young (thanks to Jambands Australia): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rO0F2oEK7iM

Thank you all for coming along and buying the new record and those you have signed up to our mailing list. We look forward to releasing more dates shortly and getting to meet many new fans and catch up with old friends for a good time!

 See you soon

Hamish & Lachie Davidson
