If you are looking for an artist who can back their ability and audience appeal with
years of solid, reliable service to the country music industry, one need go no further than
Olive Bice.
Olive's loyal fans have crowned her 'Bendigo's Queen of Country Music'. She has even
been referred to as 'Australia's Queen of CountryMusic', 'Victoria's Queen of Country
Music' and 'The Big 0 of Country Music'. There is no doubt that every title ever bestowed
on Olive has been a mark of affection, as this wonderful lady is one of the best-liked
performers in Australian country music. Olive's tuition and guidance has also launched
many other country artists in their careers as many (current)
professional artists will proudly admit, but the ever- modest Olive
shrugs this adulation off as part of her role in life - her philosophy is
that she was given the gift of her talent and she must therefore share
it with others.
Olive has lived in Bendigo all her life, having been born in
Eaglehawk and has also raised a fine family of musicians.Richard
and Ken both play guitar, drums and sing, David and Leigh are bass
and rhythm/lead guitarists, whilst daughter Andrea, is an excellent
vocalist/guitarist and is carving out a niche for herself as a recording
artist.
Olive is an established and very popular recording artist and has
recorded on labels such as - Morning Mist, R&H, Birubi and Hadley. Material is available on C.D.
In her earlier years, Olive was influenced by artists such as
Shirley Thorns, June Holmes and Patsy Cline. These influences shine through when Olive sings but she has her own, very special, unique style. Her long list of credits includes tours with Reg Poole (1981), Buddy
Weston (1983) and Rick & Thel Carey (1986),tours which saw her travel to the must remote
regions of Australia. During the 1980's, she toured Australia with her own show. In June
1993, she extended her horizons by taking part in 'The Australian Showcase Tour ', to the Gore Awards in New Zealand.
Kim is a country and variety singer with a difference. Although blind since birth, Kim has become a very accomplished entertainer.
Kim spent her early years (until the age of 18) on a farm at Pyramid Hill. She then moved to New Zealand to join her mother at Wanganui in 1993.There she attended courses at the Wanganui Polytech and obtained a certificatein reception skills and office systems. Kim also worked for seven years as a telemarketer at the Wanganui Chronicle, where she successfully marketed advertising.
During her 13 years in New Zealand, Kim became well known in the country music club circuit in Wanganui, and surrounding areas such as Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and Wellington. She performed at different chartered clubs including Wanganui St Johns Club, The RSA and Wairarapa Services and Citizens Club in Masterton.
Kim returned to Australia in 2006 and now resides in Bendigo. She is already entertaining at local venues in the Bendigo area, and has travelled as far as Geelong and the Murray River and from Benalla to Horsham to entertain at various venues. She has appeared as guest artist at several Country Music clubst hroughout central Victoria.Kim’s solo show (100% Kim Ritchie) brings 4 hours of musical enjoyment including Country, Gospel, Rock, comedy and easy listening.
Kim has a Golden Labrador, Forrest, he has been her guide dog since 2002, enabling Kim to travel safely and independently.
Kim’s interests include singing and playing the guitar, taking part in public performances such as concerts and country music club days. She enjoys listening to music, watching television (figuratively speaking) and socializing. She has a devilish sense of humour and surprises most with recall ability, along with her keen sense of hearing and smell.
Kim learns and plays her songs entirely by ear. These songs range from old country classics such as “Crazy” and “I Fall To Pieces” to more modern tunes such as “You’re Still The One” and “No Matter What”. Kim also performs songs by more recent artists such as Credence Clear Water Revival andThe Eagles.
Kim’s musical career began at an early age. She began learning the piano when she was three, the violin at five, the guitar when she was seven and the organ at eight. When Kim was 11 she began entering talent quests, and won two grand finals by the time she was 15.
Kim attended the Burwood School for the Blind in Melbourne from three to six years of age,P yramid Hill from 1980-1989, and Cohuna 1990-92.
At the tender age of 14, Kim was featured on a local Australian program singing the very well known song made famous by Anne Murray– “Tennassee Waltz”. In April of 2003, Kim was given the opportunity to appearon the Good Morning Show with Mary Lamby, where she sang the Patsy Cline classic “Crazy”. Both television appearances were certainly experiences to be remembered.
Not only has Kim appeared on television, she also took the opportunity to record a CD which was released in October 2004. The CD, entitled “Ambition” was certainly a fun and challenging experience. The CD contains 16 songs from some of her favourite artists such as Patsy Cline, Anne Murray, TheJudds and Linda Ronstadt. As Kim explains “I’ve always aspired to one day Release a recording of a selection of my favourite songs.” So herein lies the reason behind the title “Ambition”.
Kim’s passion is country music, and this becomes obvious when you see and hear per perform. She takes a great deal of pleasure from performing and sharing her love of music with others.
Kim recently released her new CD " Kim Ritchie From Me To You "

now in an effort to reach the number one spot
JACQUE TAYLOR
As you are probably aware - an indian company has bought the
rights to a song I wrote and I have been busy putting together a promotional
video for their website. Had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun putting it all
together. Apologies for the very strong kiwi accent (which I thought I had
lost!)…..
Also just been informed that this particular song has made it
through to the finals in the country music section for the Australian
Songwriters Association Awards and is up for the best Australian song of the
year across all genres. I find out about that one next month and could be
travelling to Sydney for the Awards night.
My bio - well I am from New Zealand - South Island. Been playing in bands for 22
years - from reggae to big bands to jazz trios and now a solo artist. I have
also performed in Tribute shows as Shania Twain, Dusty Springfield, Lulu, petula
Clark and Cilla Black. Over the years I have played at Wine and Food Festivals,
Street Festivals - been lucky enough to sing our New Zealand National Anthem at
International rugby and basketball games. My first love in music is Country...
Through and through. Having come from an operatic background - my parents and
brother have sung in operas for years - my family cannot understand where my
love from country music came from. When I write songs - no matter how hard I try
not to write country - it all comes out with a country sound. Right now - in
fact - next week - I start recording my second album.

Canberra’s Leanne Melmoth has a love of country music that goes back to her youth and a pop sensibility that makes her a stand out musician onthe verge of big success.
Herdebut album Perfect Day has received extensive exposure on country radio stations across Australia and three of her film clips can be seen on the Country Music Channel on Foxtel, with one video, All of your World, charting inthe Top 50 on CMC in February.
With a career as a working musician combined with a job as an office administrator and motherhood to Lachlan, 12, and Bethany, eight, there’s never a quiet moment for this bubbly country-pop singer.
‘It can be tough. I gig every weekend and my workplace is really understanding of that,’ Leanne said.
‘Most of the stuff I have to do for my music is on the weekends so as long as I manage myself and my tiredness, I’m fine.’
“My mum is amazing and my husband is great.
‘Life is good. It’s busy, but I wouldn’thave it any other way.’ She smiled.
Performingin cover bands since the age of 18, Leanne is no stranger to the weekend gig schedule.
These days she’s fronting the Leanne Melmoth Band, and gigs have included supportingThe McClymonts on the Canberra leg of their Chaos & Bright Lights Tour and performing with Shannon Noll at Stage 88 forthe Beijing Olympic Torch Relay.
I’ve always loved country music, but no one else I knew who played really did, so itwas hard to find people to form a band with.’ Leanne said. ‘That’s why we recorded the album first and then got musicians in for the band.’
The next step is to record a new EP, and although country music flows through her veins, Leanne’s determined her song-writing has a modern spin.
‘My mum and aunty did the whole country thing, so I loved Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn.’ She said. ‘I still like to listen to that music but in terms of performing, it’s not really for me.’
Leanne’s album Perfect Day is available from The Music Shop chain around Australia, Songland Tuggeranong and at music shop.com.au

In Tamworth he is part of the Gunbarrel Highwaymen – with Terry Gordon and OwenBlundell a side slitting show that must be seen if you are ever in Tamworth. The trio released an album titled ‘Loaded & Live’ which was released in1999.
Reg Poole is a proud Australian which can be heard through the songs he writes and sings. When the Australian Government decided to have a referendum of becoming a republic and the possibility of changing our National Flag – Reg wrote a ballad dedicated to our heritage – the Australian Flag. The title, simply, Don’t Change Our Flag. Reg sings the song at every chance he gets and lets people know that they are his view, which is shared by many who love their country.
In1998 he won Album of the Year at Buggendore Bush Ballad Awards and the following year was named Victorian Entertainer of the Year. Reg Poole iscertainly one of our country’s greatest balladeers. In 1993 Tania released her first single‘I’ll Be Gone’ (co-written with her sister Fiona), although it wasn’t until1996, she signed recording contract with ABC Country Record Label who apparently had been impressed with her previous success. She released her debut album ‘December Moon’ which produced 6 hit singles. In 1997 Tania took outAlbum of the Year, Female Vocalist and Vocal Collaboration with her brother Lee. It seemed that Tania was on a winner. Her next two albums (Dancing On Water and Big Sky Country) followed suit with numerous awards.

In 2008 he was nominated in the TSA for ‘New Songwriter Award’ with ‘Streets & Headstones’, although he never won – it is plain to see that Craig is a natural when it comes to writing songs particularly about Australian Heritage.
I caught up with Craig a couple times during the Country Music Festival in Tamworth over the past few years – a great bloke and talent and I’m sure you will hear more of him in the future. His latest offering ‘Bell Birds & Blackboys’ is a must for any Country Music fan as with his first release ‘The Spirit of Australia’.

After winning Star Maker in 1999, Brendon’s debut single ‘Rose and Rodeo’ won him a Golden Guitar for the Best New Talent in 2000. It came as no surprise with a natural gift. His debut album ‘A LittleTime’ was also a winner when he won his first Heritage Song of the Year GoldenGuitar in 2001 for ‘Last of the Big Gun Drovers’.
Brendon certainly was doing something right. His second album “Never Say Never” earned him six nominations and another Golden Guitar in 2002 for Never Never.
In 2004 Brendon was inducted into the Hands of Fame. The following year saw Brendon with his mum (Judy) taking outthe TSA Contemporary Song of the Year Award – collaboration on the Grahame Watts poem ‘Patches’. In 2005 Brendon joined the Hum Ridge team, Toowoomba taking on the role coordinating the Music and Production Ministries.
He often performs with his brothers Nathan and Jarad bringing fans some great Country Walmsley classics. His latest album ‘Bottle Tree Lane’ (released in 2004) is certainly worth while grabbing. The album includes that old time favourite ‘Family Bible’ and his rendition of ‘Bob Dylan’s classic ‘Forever Young’. The title song ‘Bottle Tree Lane’ was voted Best Australian Country Music Ballad a tthe ACMLA People’s Choice Awards. In my opinion it’s his best by far and the acoustics on this album is superb.
If you haven’t already heard of Brendon Walmsley, check his website for updates, albums, and where you can catch one of his live performances. www.brendonwalmsley.com.au
